Gas City Short Track
After all my preparation and work, mother nature intervened and poured rain the night of the race, cancelling it. They were lucky enough to be able to reschudule though and here is how that night went.
The rescheduled Gas City race started off poorly as I was sick with the flu. It was all I could do to ride. Practice was good and I qualified in the top 20 overall, so that was not too bad. Remember, I was still working bugs out of the Yamaha and getting used to it as well as being sick as a dog.
Heat two went well and I was running up in a transfer spot until all the sudden I was near the back of the pack! I am not even sure how it happened. The track was very unpredictable and you could go forward or backward in the blink of an eye. I finished eighth in the Heat and went to the Semi.
Semi two and didn’t go much better. Between the sketchy track and my ill health, I finished in eighth again, way out of a transfer spot. That was it for the night and I was forced to watch the Main from the stands.
Unfortunately during the Main, Don Taylor had a bad crash as was pretty severely injured, requiring surgery. Don and I have had some great races this year and last and I was very sorry to hear of his injury. My best wishes go out to him for a speedy and complete recovery.
Thank you as always to my sponsors. I thank them from the bottom of my heart for everything they have done and continue to do for me.
