A Very Special 'Thank You' to My Johnson Cams Family
I would like to take a few minutes to thank my biggest sponsor - Keith Johnson of Johnson Cams and Harold MacDonald of Johnson Cams/Tusk Racing.
I began my quest to come to America a few years ago by sending emails to anybody that was involved in flat track. I asked for any kind of assistance to help me race in the states. Harold MacDonald got my email and showed it to Keith and asked him if they could lend me a hand. Keith, a former dirt track racer himself, said sure they could.
Between the two of them, they arranged a ride for my first visit. While I didn't win anything, I did well enough to impress a few folks and get an invitation from Keith to come back for the next season.
Not only has Keith helped me build my bikes, but he has opened their door and given me a place to live in the off-season. Since my arrival I have become a student at Johnson University. Keith shares his expansive knowledge about all things motorcycle with me continually. He has helped me carve my own hubs out of billet aluminum, explained to me about cams, exhaust systems and all kinds of motor building issues. He has helped me understand chassis and handling issues and taught me about effective porting practices.
Besides all the teaching, he has allowed me full run of the shop. Tools and machines I don't know how to use he teaches me about and how to correctly use them. He supervises my work to be sure that what I am doing is up to snuff.
It isn't all about racing bikes either. Keith has helped me with pit bikes, my van and lots of other projects.
Keith's other loves are music and guns. He plays guitar, writes his own songs and enjoys his tiime at the microphone as well. He has always invited me to the jam sessions with the other players. Harold is also a musician and regularly plays with this same group.
When not strumming his guitar or figuring out a new cam, Keith is often working on one of his guns. Either one of his own, or a customer's gun as he is a certified gunsmith.
Bottom line is that Keith has shared the last three years of his life with me and I want to say Thank You. There have been high points and low points, but I want to say THANK YOU!
