Parkersburg Half-Mile, Non-National Half-Mile
This was a non-national event that we went to where there were a lot of National riders. Practice was good and the bike worked well and I was more comfortable on the machine. In the scratch heat, I got the holeshot and led the first lap until Henry Wiles got by me. I was able to hold off a hard charging Sammy Halbert to the flag and finish second.
The heat race saw another good start, second behind Wiles again and was able to hold that position until the finish line. Sammy was charging hard, but I held my line and pace and kept him behind me.
For the Main event my good start angel moved on and I didn’t get near the great starts I had earlier. I passed Jethro Halbert and worked my way to fourth and was slowly reeling Sammy Halbert in, but was not able to get him before we crossed the finish line. Wiles won, Mees second, Sammy third and I finished fourth.
At this race I was able to borrow a singles machine (1996 Yamaha I think it was! Thank you Chase Huntley!) and ride the Pro Class as well. There I was able to snag another fourth place finish. I didn’t ride my Yamaha as I did not bring it! I originally wanted to just focus on the twins class, but decided to go for some income with the singles too.
